TekTip: Correcting buzzing in apartment intercom stations

The use of some low grade cables (approximately 100 pf per foot of cable) can cause leakage in selective wires used for apartment intercom system wiring. The result of this leakage is a slight buzzing sound at the apartment intercom station.

For systems already wired, the problem may be corrected by inserting a diode (TekTone® part no. TS039) in series with each X terminal at the station location.

The use of a higher grade cable (approximately 40-45 pf per foot of cable) is recommended to avoid this problem.
