TekTip: Care and maintenance of AM and CM Series Entrance Panel push button switches

To extend the life of the switch and help prevent failure, each push button switch should be cleaned and lubricated periodically. The recommended time frame under normal conditions is every 6 months to a year. Under abnormal conditions, such as heavy use or exposure to harsh weather, switches should be cleaned and lubricated every 3 to 6 months.

Any contact cleaner or lubricant may be used. However, a spray type such as GC Electronics Contact Cleaner with silicon base is recommended.

To proceed, remove panels from the frame and spray cleaner into the openings on the back side of all switches. CAUTION: Use care when removing panels from frame. Wiring connected to switches could pull apart from the movement.

Following cleaning and lubrication, wipe off excess contact cleaner. Buttons may be tested by calling the suites. Install panels back in frame. Each push button switch should be tested again to make sure wiring is intact.

By following the procedures outlined above, your TekTone® AM and CM Series Entrance Panel Switches should last for many years without need of replacement.
