TekTip: Troubleshooting the IR704BD and PK724

The following are troubleshooting steps for models IR704BD/PK724. If this system fails to operate as required check the following:

  1. Entire system dead: Check 16 volts at transformer secondary; wiring between amplifier and transformer; amplifier connections at terminals T1 and T2; 117VAC at transformer primary.
  2. No sound from one speaker: Check speaker volume control; speaker MON button; wiring to terminals 3 and 4; wiring to amplifier terminals 3 and 4.
  3. Squealing or howling: Check volume control set too high; speakers installed too close together or on a common wall; twisted pair wiring not used.
  4. Unable to talk or monitor: Check speaker volume turned off; wiring to terminals 1 and 2; wiring to amplifier terminals 1 and 2.
  5. Unable to talk to door: Check the connections to outside speakers; wiring to amplifier terminals A and B; volume set too low.
  6. Unable to listen to door: Check amplifier terminals 1 and 2 shorted to terminal 4 or ground; volume set too low.
  7. No call tone: Check the connections at outside speaker push button; wiring to amplifier terminal A and Z (if installed).
