Communications for today... and tomorrow.
TekTip: Testing procedures for the IR104B and IR204B 4-wire apartment stations
The IR104C/IR204B Apartment Intercom Stations are for use where clear voice communication and a door release feature are desirable or necessary. These suite stations are equipped with momentary action push buttons for TALK, LISTEN and DOOR operation. The speaker/microphone is a high sensitivity type with voice frequency response.
Screw terminal connections are used, and the required wiring involves only 3 common and 1 selective wires.
For testing purposes, follow these guidelines:
Equipment needed: Music source, such as an EK714WA Radio or a transistor radio capable of delivering .5W into a 45 ohm load.
Method:
- Connect music source to IR104C/IR204B terminals 1 and X. Music should be heard in station speaker. Notice sound quality.
- Connect music source to IR104C/IR204B terminal 1 and 2.
- Push TALK button on station; music should be heard.
- Push LISTEN button on station; music should not be heard.
- Push LISTEN and DOOR buttons together on station and music should be heard.
- Connect music source to IR104C/IR204B terminal 1 and 3. Push LISTEN button on station and music should be heard.
If all these steps are accomplished successfully, then the IR104B/IR204B should be considered satisfactory.
