you will be more

the things that you didn't

Where in the World is Cris Bessette?
TekTone® International Sales

Johnny Mira-Knippel manned our
booth with Cris in São Paolo, Brazil.

Cris enjoyed some time off on Corcovado
overlooking Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

At a recent expo, Cris spoke with the Health Minister
of Tanzania about TekTone®'s nurse call systems.
TekTone® has been expanding into international markets over the past few years, and we've been having more and more success. This is partly due to TekTone®'s greater web presence, with both English- and Spanish-language websites, but also due to the efforts of our International Sales Representative, Cris Bessette.
Cris works directly with all of our international dealers and distributors, and personally facilitates sales in regions and countries where we currently do not have representation.
Cris' major functions include exhibiting at international trade shows and providing training and sales support in such diverse locations as Mexico City, Mexico; São Paulo, Brazil; Toronto, Ontario, Canada; and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Currently, we are having a great deal of success with our Medellín, Colombia representative, Tecnelec, which is installing TekTone® equipment in hospitals and clinics at an exponentially growing rate. In recent years, we have also seen installations of our systems in Greece, Kosovo, Tanzania, Honduras, Saudi Arabia, Seychelles, Bangladesh, the Philippines, Thailand, and many other countries.
TekTip: Using DSL with Tek-ENTRY® Systems
TE903, TE904, TE905A & TE905ANP
Because of the growing popularity of DSL service in private residences, it has become necessary to address interaction with Tek-ENTRY® TE900-series Telephone Entry Systems.
- PM905A—with this "phone-line version" of the TE equipment, there are no additional issues when a suite employs a DSL connection. In this scenario, the required filters (usually supplied by the DSL service provider) are installed in the suite itself, and the necessary separation of the signals is handled there.
- PM905ANP—with this "no-phone-line version" of the TE equipment, DSL service to a given suite will be temporarily disconnected while the TE equipment is in communication with that specific suite. This is because the connection to phone service is broken while the TE equipment is in use. When this communication is terminated, the DSL connection is re-established automatically. In most cases, this is not an issue to the user and may not even be noticed.
In Brief...
- CM190, CM192 & CM193 series apartment entry panels have been discontinued and will be built only on a per-quote basis. CM490, CM491, CM492 & CM493 vandal resistant panels are the replacements.
- All IR250- and IR260-series stations have been discontinued because a required component is no longer available.
- Effective April 9, 2007, TekTone® is a smoke-free campus--no tobacco product use is allowed within the facilities or on the property.

Flush-mounted Stations

Surface-mounted Stations
IR103E, IR104E Flush-Mount and IR203E, IR205E Surface-Mount used with AM192, AM492, CM192, CM492 Entrance Panels
By now, most of you have become familiar with the IR204E that we released in February 2006. Highlights of the new station include: a newly designed panel with a soft flow to the edges and new curves so it disappears into the wall while still giving the tenant our trademark simple operation. New buttons supply the clarity in audio and consistent operation our users have come to expect.
Now, we are excited to announce the release of the other variations in the IR100 and IR200 families of apartment remotes—and all include the same great features as the IR204E.
For more information, see specification sheets IL233 (IR200E series surface-mounted stations) and IL486 (IR100E series flush-mounted stations), and the full Tek-ENTRY® product line at www.tektone.NET.
Central Monitoring for Tek-CARE®500

The next big added feature to TekTone®'s wireless emergency call system provides an interface for transmitting alarm messages to a central monitoring station. The new NC502 PC-Alarm Panel receives alarm messages from the Tek-CARE®500 Master Station Computer via an RS-232 connection, and then transmits the messages over a standard telephone (POTS) line to a central monitoring facility. (The Tek-CARE®500 system must have software version 1.5.0.597 or later.)
The following features are available with the NC502:
- Uses Ademco ContactID Protocol
- Generates all DTMF signals necessary for communication
- Decodes handshake and kiss-off tones from the monitoring station
- Transmission status is reported back to the TekTone® Tek-CARE®500 system
- Connections are isolated via mechanical relay, opto-coupler and telephone coupling transformer
- Transmission over "Plain Old Telephone Service" (POTS) line
- Straight serial cable, USB to serial adapter, power adapter with cord, and phone cable are included
- NC502 is external to the NC501 Master Station Computer
For more information, see specification sheet IL851.
Linn Cove Viaduct—Fall Vista

The Linn Cove Viaduct, which skirts around Grandfather Mountain near Linville, NC, is perhaps the most photographed section of the entire Blue Ridge Parkway. This marvel of modern engineering was completed in 1987 and remains one of the most elegant solutions to environmental impact. The viaduct was constructed on the slopes of Grandfather Mountain and snakes around Linn Cove in a gorgeous S-shaped curve.
As always, Fall in the Blue Ridge is a spectacular event that must be seen in person. Please visit www.mistyblueridges.com for more photos of the Blue Ridge Parkway.
